Marriage Counseling in Southlake, Keller & Colleyville

From the outside, your marriage probably looks fine. You've built a career, a home, and maybe a family. People rely on you. But at home the same conversation keeps going the same way: a calm stretch, then the same trigger, the same argument, the same hurt. You've tried harder, and you've tried talking it out. You're out of moves.

That's where we come in. Grounded Life Counseling and Coaching is a husband-and-wife therapist team. Our office is in North Richland Hills, convenient to Southlake, Keller, and Colleyville and close to Grapevine, Westlake, and Fort Worth. We work mainly with established couples, usually married seven years or more, who are capable and accomplished and privately worn out.

Who we are

Seth Nichols, LPC, is a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas, trained through Level 2 of the Gottman Method, and also draws on Emotionally Focused Therapy. He works especially well with leaders, high achievers, and people of faith, and with marriages that feel deeply stuck.

Beth Nichols, LCSW-S, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker–Supervisor in Texas with a sharp eye for assessment. She joins Seth for couple-to-couple sessions, so each of you has a therapist in your corner and neither of you feels outnumbered.

We've been the couple on the other side of the couch ourselves. We started our own counseling in 2013, and it changed our marriage.

A process with an end

Counseling shouldn't be a subscription. Our work has a defined shape:

  1. Assess. A separate consult with each of you, structured assessments, and a map of your attachment histories, so we can name the specific cycle you keep falling into.
  2. Do the work. Longer sessions (85 or 110 minutes) where we slow the cycle down and take it apart. You'll hit the same blocks you hit at home, but this time with help.
  3. Follow up. Check-ins at one and two months to make sure what changed in our office is still working in your kitchen.

Most couples spend 12–24 hours with us over two to four months. Every couple is different, and we'll give you an honest picture after the assessment.

Private pay, on purpose

We don't take insurance. Insurance requires a diagnosis for one partner, but couples counseling treats the relationship, not an illness. Paying privately also keeps your counseling out of insurer and employer records. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds where eligible.

Rates: Couples with Seth: $195 / 60 min, $292 / 85 min, $390 / 110 min. Couples with Seth & Beth: $600 / 110 min. Individual: $170 / 60 min.

Faith, and every background

We're followers of Jesus and we love research. Many of the couples we see are people of faith, and many aren't sure what they believe. You'll never be preached at, and you'll never be asked to leave your convictions at the door.

Convenient for Northeast Tarrant County

Our office is at 8240 Mid Cities Blvd., North Richland Hills, TX 76180. It's an easy drive from Southlake Town Square, Keller, Colleyville, and Grapevine. Appointments run Monday through Friday until 8pm, so you can come after work without explaining an afternoon away.

Common questions from local couples

Do we both have to come to the first call? No. Either of you can call. If one partner wants to start first, we'll make a plan to bring the other in quickly so it never feels like two against one.

Will you take sides? No. Think of it as a hospital, not a court. If we're siding with one of you, we aren't doing our job.

Take the first step

You don't need to have it all figured out. Start with a free, private 15-minute call with a licensed therapist to see if we're the right fit. If we aren't, we'll help point you somewhere that is.
